The Progressive era is when women had no rights, alcohol was prohibited, immigration was becoming a big deal, and child labor was growing rapidly.
There are 7 themes that I can identify for the Progressive Era. They are:
1. Corporations and Labor: Examples- Child labor, corruption.
2. Urbanization & Immigration: Examples- Tenements and immigration restrictions.
3. Women's Rights: Examples- The right to vote, birth control.
4. Progressive Reformers/ Social Change: Examples- Hull House, Muckrakers
5. Political Change: Example- monopoly busting
6. Temperance & Prohibition: Example- Women & Christians Temperance Union
7. Conservation of lands: Example- President Roosevelt's establishment of National parks.
I chose to put women suffrage and child labor on my website. I chose women suffrage because back then it was a big deal and was a problem that needed to be address and luckily was. Also child labor is still going on but back then children worked for little ay and in bad conditions.
